LatinX in AI Social at ICLR 2022
LatinX in AI will host a virtual social co-located with the International Conference on Learning Representations. This is a virtual social happening in Gathertown on Monday, 25th of April 2022 at 12 PM PDT.

Mission
This LatinX in AI (LXAI) social is aimed at LatinX individuals working on or interested in AI with a goal to increase the visibility of researchers of LatinX origin. Those already working in AI will have the opportunity to connect with fellow LatinX and make their own work known, while those new to the field will benefit from the scientific exchange, guidance, and advice of researchers with similar backgrounds. Participants will be able to engage in discussions about AI (formal and informal) and to share their thoughts on how to increase the presence of LatinX in AI.
KEYNOTE SPEAKERS
Ignacio G. López-Francos is a Senior Research Engineer with the Intelligent Systems Division at NASA Ames Research Center. His current research focuses on assured autonomy, rad-tolerant neuromorphic computing, and vision-based navigation. He is also developing ML-based tools to aid the planning of the Volatiles Investigating Polar Exploration Rover (VIPER), NASA's first lunar robotic rover mission. Before joining NASA, he worked for eight years in industry at the intersection of technology, strategy, and innovation in companies like United Airlines and Meta. He holds Master's degrees from the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) and Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM) in Spain, where he's originally from.
Helena Gómez Adorno is an Associate Researcher at Instituto de Investigaciones en Matemáticas Aplicadas y en Sistemas, UNAM. She finished her Ph. D. in Computer Science at the Centro de Investigación en Computación, IPN. Her research interests are in the field of natural language processing. She has worked on authorship attribution, author profiling, question answering systems, semantic similarity, and text classification problems. She is a current member of the National System of Researchers of CONACYT (México).
